LINOCUTS | INTAGLIO | SERIGRAPH | MONOTYPE/MONOPRINT
One of the earliest forms of sharing artwork, printmaking involves the transfer of an image to a substrate one or multiple times. LINOCUTS are images carved into a sheet of linoleum with the relief image inked and printed by hand-rubbing the back of a sheet of paper or placing a sheet of paper on top of the printing plate and pressing them with a platen or the rollers of a press. INTAGLIO is the transfer of ink from the depressions eaten or gouged into the plate. MONOTYPE is a one of a kind transfer painting that is often a combination of several art-making processes. MONOPRINT is a monotype that includes at least one repeatable image component.
